when blended, they even out and mix in with the natural skin tone pretty well. Please note that I did not try to blend these in for the photos, so this is how they look right out of the bottle.
So if you fall into the very light or very dark skin tone category and have had trouble finding a foundation shade, this might be the place to look.īelow are indoor and outdoor MAC Matchmaster Foundation swatches of the following numbers 02, 03, 06, 07, 08, 09,10. I think it could be of most interest to people with either very fair or very dark skin because the collection include formulations of MAC’s lightest and darkest shades ever. I liked 02 just fine, but am not sure that I would necessarily buy another bottle of it. It wore as good for me as a number of other foundations. The foundation covers well, especially if you do build it a bit. 02 was a bit more yellow than I care for though, while 03 appeared to be a bit cooler toned but slightly darker than I wanted on my face (It matched my arm well though in the swatch). I usually wear the second to lightest shade in any collection and I appear to be close to the same here. I found that the 02 and 03 foundations, the lightest that I was sent, worked ok with my fair skin. They also provide SPF 15 sunscreen protection.
The foundations are meant to adapt to you skin shade and can be worn from sheer to full coverage through building. My only worry it that if I spend too much time in the sun before the wedding the colour match might go off…I’m crossing my fingers it doesn’t! This foundation retails for $41.MAC Matchmaster Foundation is a new offering for the permanent collection that focuses on adaptable pigment and buildable shades numbered from 01 to 10 instead of using MAC’s other/older shade naming conventions. This is Matchmaster on my face in daylight. It’s perfect for me as it does everything I want it to for my wedding day, controls oil, looks flawless and has great staying power! I was dubious about the shade but it really does adapt to your own skin tone, it is really light and airy on the skin and doesn’t feel like your wearing a mask. I don’t find it so, to me it smells kinda like stage make up, which isn’t unpleasant to me. There is a slight smell to the foundation which some people have described as ‘chemical’ like.
Now this foundation is SPF 15 however I have tested my face with flash after applying and there is no white cast. I find that two-three pumps dispenses more than enough coverage for neck and face. The packaging is usual MAC style, sleek with a lockable pump action. I’ve been going at least 6 hours without having to touch up and we are having some pretty hot weather here at the moment! With my BB cream I would be touching up with powder every 2 hours…now reading that I don’t know why I’ve been doing that for so long! I’ve been applying over primer and using the MAC Blot Powder to set it with. I’ve mainly been wearing BB cream recently so it’s been nice to switch it up with some foundation! I am really impressed with the Matchmaster foundation. Basically I wanted a base that would be able to stand up to the combined efforts of hot weather and my oily skin! She suggested the Matchmaster as it has a medium build-able coverage and works well with oily skin. When I went to purchase the foundation I wanted to wear on my wedding day my words to the MAC mua were “natural but with more coverage than I’d usually wear”.
